My Perfect Weekend... |
|
| After being away for work for almost a year, I went home to Florida to see my girlfriend. I really planned a special weekend trip with her and this time around I chose Jacksonville as our weekend destination. This was actually a surprise Jacksonville travel for her. I only told her we were going to see my parents in Jacksonville. So when I finally revealed the surprise, I saw how happy and excited she was. I booked a Double Bubble Romance Special Package at Omni Jacksonville Hotel at 245 Water Street. I specifically chose this special treat since it's designed for two. It included a commemorative ice bucket with two personalized bottles of bubbly and breakfast. I didn't want to stay in a cheap hotel that's why I chose this four-diamond luxury hotel. The rooftop heated swimming pool is a romantic place as well. We arrived in Jacksonville at 6 PM Friday and stayed at the hotel to rest. The next day, we checked Fort Caroline National Memorial after breakfast at the hotel. Fort Caroline was actually the first French colony in the US and was intended as a place for the Huguenots. The 16th Century fort inside Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve a National Park was actually perfect for a romantic walk because of the large trees and moss which serve as shade. Then we went to eat lunch in Biscottis at 3556 St. John Ave. We enjoyed the outdoor dining ambiance and although the place serves mostly American cuisine, the Thai chicken salad was delicious. Biscottis also serves wine and beer. In the afternoon, we visited Kingsley Plantation. The road to the Kingsley Plantation was unpaved, mostly made of rocks, shells and hard sand. But after being tossed and bounced, you'll get a magnificent view of the river and the main house at Kingsley. We ate dinner at 3000 Dunn Ave, where the Marco Polo Chinese Restaurant and Mongolian BBQ was located. My girlfriend and I were never Chinese food lovers but the Mongolian BBQ at Marco Polo was definitely great for dinner. Then we went back to the hotel to have some rest. |
